What is happening? I mean, what has happened? Why so much confusion?
I watch videos trying to grasp the reality. But it's like we don't live in it. Because we are constantly looking at the screen, not people. We are always listening to data, not hearing the voices. The US. government was criticized for treating the war like a video game, yet everyone is staring at the screen, staring at the camera, typing in their reality on the electric devices instead of -. Instead of what? What are we supposed to do when we know that somewhere, in a land far away where we do not know anyone, there are people suffering without any valid explanation from the government?
And all we could do is, stay aloof or be super engaged, constantly looking at the screen and not in the world that surrounds us, slightly irritated by the seeming indifference to the state of the world. But what surrounds us will change, slowly and slowly. We cannot escape the repercussions, and we will feel it. I want to escape it but I also do not want to.
It's the fish.
It always comes back to the fish.
I've heard from a doctor.
"Do you know how to make a fish depressed?"
"By keeping it into a water tank where there is a threat. The natural instinct is to escape. But the fish knows its limitation. They are in a fish tank. So they start giving up, and that's when the stress start to eat their souls. "
So, the first step I take is not allowing stress to eat my soul. And then next, to record the facts. I noticed recently that the news these days are all based on discussions, and this is in fact very disorienting. Because opinions are often distorted interpretation of the reality. We can never have a complete interpretation of the reality however informative we might be. Informing the people with facts are crucial in such time. Recording what is going on keeps our sanity. Do not let them gaslight the reality. That's the kind of journalism we need; Not stating your opinion in a righteous way, as if you are above it all. Everyone seems to think so, so there is no point. What we need urgently is to get in touch with reality.
Today, the new white refrigerator and washing machine arrived in my small kitchen. It was about time, because the old one froze all the vegetables, and made my salad taste miserable. The used washing machine never really washed anything. Brand new is not always important, but function is, I guess. It's about priority. I don't need anything, but at the same time I feel like I need everything. Watching the news makes me already reminiscent of the peace I have today.
